OUTFIT | NEW DRESS FROM THE WHITEPEPPER!

As a thank you for helping out with a feature in their latest magazine, The Whitepepper kindly sent me a few bits from their new winter range; (definitely thought Christmas had come early)! One of the items I asked for was this amazing long, black shirt dress. It's super comfortable and flattering because it literally just falls off of my shoulders to my shins, showing off no lumps or bumps on the way down. Here I've worn it with black cotton tights, my Dr Martens and my new, long grey coat, which is also from The Whitepepper.

WINTER PASTELS | LAVISH ALICE

It's funny, when looking at my work it seems I have a real love of colour, (I like working around colour when styling as it keeps my ideas focussed and also ties images together, keeping everything consistent). Yet in reality there are very few pops of colour in my wardrobe.

When the brand Lavish Alice asked if I'd like to review something from their winter range however, I couldn't help but notice this super cool pair of pale pink, wide leg trousers. I like that although they're pink, the colour is still very soft and neutral, and they're a fabulous fit too! They literally just fall from the waist - I can't wait to use them in a photoshoot! I can also picture myself wearing them out to a club with a cropped tee or tucked in blouse and heels. Here I've styled them in a more casual way though with a slouchy jumper, picked up from a charity shop in Crouch End, and my beloved Dr Martens.

DM are actually running an offer this weekend which saves you £25 when you spend £125 or more online; simply head over to the Dr Martens website and use the discount code DMBLACK14 at the checkout! The code expires at Midnight this Monday... go go go!

A RAINY SUNDAY IN LONDON

Yesterday was so miserable that I almost couldn't bring myself to leave the house! It rained all day and was absolutely freezing... but a bit of fresh air never hurt anyone so Matt and I did pop to Crouch End for a bit in the afternoon.

I wore my M Missoni dress underneath a black roll neck, (which I've been living in recently), with tights and DMs. I then layered up with my favourite forest green coat and a beanie hat - I've actually gone off this hat recently though so I'm hoping to get a new one for Christmas;) I also wore my new Daniel Wellington watch*, which is a lovely, simple leather design. This week you can treat yourself to 15% off of any DW design with the discount code fashionyourseatbelts - enjoy!

BEYOND RETRO X SAVE THE CHILDREN

This year I've teamed up with vintage brand Beyond Retro to help spread charitable, (and festive), love in conjunction with Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day. Beyond Retro have pledged to sell 10,000 Christmas jumpers in the lead up to the big day and will be donating £1 from each sale to Save the Children.

To support them in their generous endeavor simply head over to Beyond Retro, (online or in-store), and purchase yourself a snuggly, possibly ugly, festive knit to sport this Christmas Jumper Day. Beyond Retro actually have a pop-up store at Old Street station at the moment which is dedicated entirely to Christmas jumpers, so perhaps you could even treat yourself to a visit there when searching for your new wooly friend! Once in your knit, be sure to enter their #xmasjumperstylechallenge, where you could win a £250 shopping spree! All you need to do is make sure you're following Beyond Retro on Twitter and Instagram then snap yourself in your new Christmas jumper alongside the hashtag above!

Last weekend I got into the Christmas spirit perhaps a little early and wore my new festive jumper into central where I had a wonder down Carnaby Street, which is looking super pretty at the moment with all of it's lights up. I also treated myself to a magazine haul from one of the fabulous magazine shops hidden in London's trendy Soho! Just a tip about Soho, there's a great cocktail bar called Zebrano, which has happy hour till 10pm most evenings;)

HEJ! | GIVING THIS ANOTHER TRY...

Hello! It's been a while since I last blogged but the time feels right to give this another shot, so here goes! I guess I should start with a quick update; over the summer i went freelance as a stylist. I've tried in-house a few times but I always seem to end up back here. I really love the freedom, opportunity and unexpected nature that comes with working for myself, it keeps me on my toes, forces me outside of comfort zones and makes me try harder than I've ever tried before. I do love a challenge. So for now this seems like the right thing for me - It's all very exciting and I'll definitely be keeping you updated on all of that side of things here on FYS.

As I'm sure you've already seen on Instagram I also had a hair cut over the Summer, just before visiting Gothenburg for Way Out West Festival, which was amazing by the way. I loved Sweden so much that I returned for my Birthday weekend, this time to Stockholm, which is where all of these photographs were taken! Back to image related stuff for a second though, I've stopped wearing so much makeup all of the time. My average day involves hours spent on my knees or running around like an idiot in (quite often) sweaty studios. What's the point? This also restricts what I wear, which is actually great cos I feel I'm finally getting a grasp on my own personal style... what works for me and what doesn't. Although I love lots of different styles and trends, most of them I just want to work with, not wear myself.

Another recent life development is the new laptop that I'm currently working from. Last weekend, after months of sharing Matt's laptop, (nightmare), I finally bought my own shiny new Macbook Pro. Having this beauty in my hands was the perfect reason to get back into the blogging game, it would have been rude not to. I hope you also like this new layout, I think it's a lot more user friendly for you guys and also a lot more "me"!

WINTER WISHLIST | COATS

Ah winter, we meet again.... this week there's been a sudden drop in temperature in the UK and it's finally starting to feel a little festive. Of course I love summer too, but there are plenty of reasons why I enjoy winter just as much! Firstly, Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year; markets, mulled wine, pretty lights, board games, friends, family, presents, (and let's not forget to mention the John Lewis ads).... what's not to like!? There's also that delightfully refreshing smell/taste/feel of a cold winter's morning, and SNOW! The excitement of snow is embedded into our brains at a young age in England, and I don't think that ever goes away.... grown men still lie in bed at night in the midst of winter wishing for a 'snow day'!

But most importantly, with crisp winter mornings comes knitwear, oversized jackets and ankle boots. Autumn/winter fashion is my favourite and I'm determined to treat myself to a new coat this year; I love the tie waist design of the three Cos styles above, and I'd really like a below the knee length. I've been doing a bit of research into other high street brands to see what's available as my budget is on the small side, but it's so hard to beat Cos's style, craftsmanship and elegance.

MAXI LENGTH BOILED WOOL COAT FROM ASOS, £95.00

ASOS do actually have an amazing range of coats; I love the simplicity and colour of this boiled wool style above, (though The Whitepepper do have a very similar design for £15.00 less FYI). I also really like this Duster Coat by ASOS shown below, which is only £60.00 - I'm not sure how warm it would be but you could easily layer it up with a cardigan underneath and a big scarf and still achieve that gorgeous long, slouchy silhouette. I'd love to wear it with a pair of white Adidas Stan Smiths or alternatively my DM shoes would work just fine.

DUSTER COAT FROM ASOS, £60

Surprisingly Topshop didn't have much to offer apart from this amazing Blanket Coat by Topshop Unique, which is a beautiful colour but sadly out of my price range. I did come across this gorgeous trench from Urban Outfitters shown below, which is cheaper but I don't like the epaulettes on the shoulders. Also for that price I may as well just go to Cos! I think I'm going to hold off for a while and treat myself in December - I can't see much that I like online but I'd like to pop into Zara, Warehouse and & Other Stories for a browse too! What sort of coat or jacket will you be wearing this winter?

INTRODUCING | LOLA MAY

Today I had a meeting in central London so whilst there I had a cheeky browse in H&M and Forever 21 where I found SO many things that I wanted to buy! Window shopping is dangerous... I then popped East to return some samples and Matt and I took a nice walk from Bethnal Green to Haggerston and then onto Dalston before I got lazy and jumped on a bus home! I love days like today spent walking around London, it truly is a unique and magical place.

I wore my new culottes, which are from an exciting start up brand called Lola May. Based in Manchester, Lola May was founded by three twenty something friends who wanted to create wearable, edgy and on-trend pieces at an affordable price; you can follow them on instagram here! What I love about culottes is how comfortable they are...they're also super boyish yet elegant at the same time, so they're pretty versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on the look you're after. Today I wore them with a cosy roll neck and DMs, whereas last weekend I wore them out to a club with a white sleeveless blouse, which dressed them up a little!
